A keeper..............

Vida's Mandarin Orange Cake

Cake

2 6oz cans mandarin oranges
2 C. flour
2 C. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt

Topping:

6 Tbls. butter
6 Tbls. milk
1 1/2 C. Brown Sugar
1 C. chopped pecans

Beat oranges....with juice
Mix everything together....pour into (do not grease or flour) 9x13 baking pan.....mixture will be runny. Bake 350 degrees until cake is golden brown and bounces back when touched in middle. About 35 to 40 min....the time never is the same.

Make topping...poke cake with toothpick....pour over hot cake. Add nuts to topping just before putting on cake.

WARNING: make this cake at your own RISK!!! It is to die for!

We were all greeted and called to order by Marla and Terri,
our Relief Society President and Baliff

Judge Sandy presided......
She did a GREAT job! She could have been a judge in her previous life,
Oh yeah, she was a judge in her previous life!
No wonder she was a natural!!

Marie was "Sister I Don't Matter"
Great job, Marie! You know you DO matter to all of us!

Lindsey was "Sister You Don't Care About Me"
We don't know of anyone like this!! We care about all of our sisters,
especially you, Lindsey!

We got a nice pep talk from the Bishop about the importance of
VISITING TEACHING!

I Can't Go Today

It is the first day of the month
I ask my partner, "When shall we go?
I'll do the lesson, you make the calls,"
She tells me, "I don't know."

I can't go today
I'm watching my grandkids, now
Things always come up, somehow
I am sad to say, I can't go today.

But when the next month came around
We vowed together, we wouldn't miss.
Then on the last day, my cell phone rang,
I got a call like this:

I can't go today,
My laundry's piled up on me.
I've nothing to wear, you see,
Breaks my heart to say, I can't go today.

Somehow a month or two went by
We've done no visits, not even called.
I called my partner, sent her a text
When she called back, she bawled.

I can't go today,
I've got all the cub scouts here
They've trashed my whole house, I fear
They won't go away,
I can't go today.

I baked some Christmas cookies, then
I called my partner, "Let's drop by quick."
O saw them Sunday, asked how there were that
ought to do the trick!"

I can't go today,
I must have the flu, you see
I think I'm contagious, gee
There is just no way, I can go today.

Now it's a new year and we feel
Our sisters need us, let's how we care
No more excuses, starting today-
We'll be the perfect pair!

We will go today!
I think we can have some fun
Once we get our teaching done
And our sisters say,
"Glad the came today!"

Dessert from the RS Christmas Progressive Dinner

It will ruin your diet for sure.....
but, so worth it!

Apple Dumplings

2 Granny Smith apples
2 cans crescent rolls
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoons vanilla
cinnamon
1 small can Mountain Dew

Peel and core apples. Cut apples into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan. Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir, and pour over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.

Here's the Cranberry Chicken served at one of the
Holiday Christmas dinners
Recipe is from Marla Helquist
YUMMY!!

Cranberry Chicken

I take the (skinless, boneless) chicken breast and cut them in half.

Mix together: ( I mix mine with a wisk)

1 small bottle of Catalina dressing
1 envelope of Lipton's Onion Soup Mix
1 can cranberry sauce

Pour it all over your chicken and bake uncovered at 350 for 30 to 45 minutes depending ono how full your pan is.

It doesn't get much easier than that! Enjoy

Personal Thoughts

I asked Bev Turley to give me permission to post on this blog because I wanted to share an experience I had on Sunday during Sacrament meeting.

I had been fasting on Sunday searching for answers to some questions. As soon as the meeting started I had this overwhelming feeling of peace.

Angela's talk was the answer to my prayers. I have had a few experiences like this in the past, but never this powerful.

I was truly amazed at how quickly and easily I was able to receive answers to my prayers.

I was so grateful that I was in tune and Angela was in tune, because I truly felt that she was an instrument in the Lord's hands for me.

I wanted to share this experience because I was so deeply moved and grateful to have been in the right place at the right time to have been able to received those blessings.

My goal now is to try to have this experience every Sunday and to make my Sacrament Meetings for meaningful.

Thank you to all who participated on Sunday because every single person added to the spirit I was able to feel.

We had the best waitress in the whole wide world! Stacy Roberts.....who would have thought.

Cute, cute, Jenny! Aren't we just the luckiest people in the whole wide world to get to visit the great people we get to visit! We have more fun than we any one can have Visiting Teaching!

This was a choice Cheryl Smith makes....so if it's good enough for Cheryl, it's good enough for us....and let me tell you....it was GOOD!

Jan~will have some menu ideas for your 90 day supply. She's always full of useful, fun information. How good is your preparedness supply if no one wants to eat it or you don't know what to do with it?

Nadine~will share with us ideas about using a Food Saver. She has a personal experience of someone preparing meals for her, saving them with the Food Saver and placing them in her freezer for her to use later. What a good idea.

Brenda~will tell us how and where to find the best bargains and how to use coupons to get the best deals ever!

Bev~will teach us how to make "Brownie's in a Bottle". What a fun, unique idea!
